WOW; I can’t believe we have completed six months of our Lion year. Our clubs have been working hard on their service to others and bringing in new members. But in the remaining months we must work harder on membership and retention in our clubs. This is why our Global Membership, Global Leadership, and our Club Excellence Programs are available to assist your club on ways to recruit new members or retain current members. I think we can all use some extra help. Also by recruiting new members and young adults you will increase hands to do more service, get new ideas for service projects and activities that your community needs. We also need to continue to work on our goals we made for this Lion year. I am asking all Lions, Lionesses and Leos to be represented at our District Cabinet Meetings, District and State Convention, increase membership, all club Presidents and Secretaries to work for 100% award, add more Lion and Leo clubs in the District, continue to plant trees in the Spring(start them as seedlings from a nursery) and help the environment in April(Dr. Tam’s Global Campaign). It is not too early to start thinking of your club’s new officers for the next Lion year. When you have your elections by April 15, 2012, you can submit your results online on your PU101form no later than May 15, 2012. Also send a copy to DG Gerri Towson and Ist VDG Don Richardson. Information about our District Convention has been sent to all Presidents, Secretaries and PDGS It is also included in our Announcer this month. Remember in order for your club delegates to vote at the Convention all International, State and District dues must be paid. Let us continue Dr. Tam’s theme “I BELIEVE” and let us continue with motivation, dedication, service commitment, meeting the challenge and with renewed spirit and energy working in our clubs that we show how proud we are to be members of this great service organization-LIONS CLUBS INTERNATIONAL.

“The most beautiful things in life cannot be seen, not touched, but are felt in the heart”. [Helen Keller…1880-1968].

Yours in Lionism

Pennsylvania Lions State Convention will be here before you know it. The 14-C committee has a very full schedule for you in Gettysburg and we hope that you are planning to attend. The regis-tration packets are in the mail to the clubs and you should already have them or you will by the middle of January. Look them over and sign up for the meals and events that you want to attend.

The Eisenhower farm tour will leave the information center at 9:30 AM on Friday and will be back at the center at 11:30 AM. The information center is only 10 minutes from the Hotel so you can make the 12:00 lunch to hear our speaker, Pennsylvania’s own Past President Joseph Wroblewski.

The Thursday night Ghost tour will start downtown at Nesbit tours right after it gets dark. The tours last about 1 ½ hours and special pins are included in the $10.00 price. The ladies get the White Ghost and the men get the Grey Ghost. The walking tour covers about 6 to 7 blocks. When you return, the hospitality rooms will be open for your enjoyment. Don’t miss this op-portunity to have fun.

If you don’t sign up for this one, you will just have to listen to the story and not be part of it.

On Saturday, the Ladies/Lioness breakfast will start at 7:00 AM. The “Presidents meet the President” will be at 9:00 AM followed by a great presentation on “Everything I know about Lions I learned at the Zoo” by PCC Terry Goodman of New Hampshire. The Penn-sylvania Lions All-State Band will perform at noon. Ladonna Gatlin will be next from 1:30 to 3:00. Then the All-State Band will play for an hour before the Banquet which starts with a 6:00 social and dinner at 7:00.

The tables for the Banquet are for 10 instead of 8. No problem, all you need is one more couple to fill you table. The tables are extra large so you will have plenty of room.

When you get the regis-tration form, please fill it out and be sure to sign up for each event and meal that you want to attend then send it in with your payment. The reason for this is easy. Gettysburg College graduation is also the same weekend and after our deadline we cannot guarantee you a room.
