Due to scheduling problems Dr Oz and his staff had to cancel the Health Fair scheduled for May 12th and move it to May 19th at Temple Hospital.

Unfortunately, this date occurs during the State Lions Convention in Gettysburg and all those Lions running the event from Districts A and R will be at the Convention, therefore we had to cancel Lions participation.

We thank all the Lions, Lionesses and Leos who signed up. Dr Oz says he will try another Health Fair in the late Fall with Lions participation and plenty of advance planning.

Dear fellow Lions, Lionesses and Leos:

In these last two months of our Lion year, let us continue working on the commitments we made at the beginning of our Lion year. Our clubs worked on our International President, Dr. Tam’s last Global Campaign(helping the environment) in April.. We still need to continue planting new trees. As I said in our April Announcer, one of our other Districts is having a tree project to honor the 40 passengers and crew who lost their lives on 9/11 in Shanktown, Pa.(Flight 93). This memorial will also honor all of those who have given their lives for their country by fighting in this war. Clubs can donate to this project as part of their tree planting goal. This is a State-wide Project. Trees will be planted, irrigated and staked to insure that they will take root . Cost for a tree is $350.00. Check is to be made out to District M and mailed to DG Gerri Towson as soon as possible.

I want to thank again all the clubs for their hospitality during my visitations so far. I still have 10 more clubs to visit before my Lion year is over as your District Governor. It is truly overwhelming to hear about all your projects, volunteer hours and service you have given and will continue to do so in your communities. When Lions work together to raise funds for the community they also care for their fellow Lions like family. Remember TOGETHER WE BELIEVE AND TOGETHER WE SERVE. Let’s not forget to have this put in our monthly Announcer and your community newspapers to show what our Lions are doing. This could help in getting people’s interest in joining your clubs.

Club Secretaries-it is very important that you complete your (PU-101) forms listing your Officers for the 2012-2013 Lion Year and send them to International and also to your District Governor and 1st Vice District Governor . The deadline is May 15th. Some clubs have already sent them(thank you) but we still need the rest of them. Don’t forget you can send the copy to our District via the website www.lions14a.org.

The Pennsylvania State Lions Convention in Gettysburg is May 17th to May 20th. This year International President Wing-kun Tam will be attending. President Tam wants every Club President to attend so he can meet with you on Saturday, May 19th . This is every Lion’s chance to have a say in Lionism throughout Pennsylvania.

May is Recycle for Sight Month. Also May 11-17 is White Cane Week and May 15-Annual Leo Club Officers and Membership Report Forms (Leo 72) are due. Also deadline for filing Officer Reporting Form(PU-101).

May all our Lady Lions and Lionesses have a wonderful Mother’s Day and all our Lions, Lionesses and Leos have a safe and great Memorial Day.

Yours in Lionism DG Gerri

Pennsylvania Lions State Convention will be here before you know it. The 14-C committee has a very full schedule for you in Gettysburg and we hope that you are planning to attend. The regis-tration packets are in the mail to the clubs and you should already have them or you will by the middle of January. Look them over and sign up for the meals and events that you want to attend.

The Eisenhower farm tour will leave the information center at 9:30 AM on Friday and will be back at the center at 11:30 AM. The information center is only 10 minutes from the Hotel so you can make the 12:00 lunch to hear our speaker, Pennsylvania’s own Past President Joseph Wroblewski.

The Thursday night Ghost tour will start downtown at Nesbit tours right after it gets dark. The tours last about 1 ½ hours and special pins are included in the $10.00 price. The ladies get the White Ghost and the men get the Grey Ghost. The walking tour covers about 6 to 7 blocks. When you return, the hospitality rooms will be open for your enjoyment. Don’t miss this op-portunity to have fun.

If you don’t sign up for this one, you will just have to listen to the story and not be part of it.

On Saturday, the Ladies/Lioness breakfast will start at 7:00 AM. The “Presidents meet the President” will be at 9:00 AM followed by a great presentation on “Everything I know about Lions I learned at the Zoo” by PCC Terry Goodman of New Hampshire. The Penn-sylvania Lions All-State Band will perform at noon. Ladonna Gatlin will be next from 1:30 to 3:00. Then the All-State Band will play for an hour before the Banquet which starts with a 6:00 social and dinner at 7:00.

The tables for the Banquet are for 10 instead of 8. No problem, all you need is one more couple to fill you table. The tables are extra large so you will have plenty of room.

When you get the regis-tration form, please fill it out and be sure to sign up for each event and meal that you want to attend then send it in with your payment. The reason for this is easy. Gettysburg College graduation is also the same weekend and after our deadline we cannot guarantee you a room.
